Daddy2 Mommy, where do parenting magazines come from?   THE MOTHERHOOD was started in March 2006 for the sister towns of Maplewood and South Orange, New Jersey, by two friends — Lisa Duggan and Shirley Alvarez Taybron — mothers with 12+ years of publishing and parenting experience between them. "We wanted to create a magazine that showed all the faces of parenting in our communities, not just the air-brushed fantasies of corporate America — and we succeeded!" PREMIERE COVER, MARCH 2006 WE now regret to report that the recent changes in the national and local economy have impacted us directly, and we have temporarily suspended the print-version of our magazine. BUT we are very pleased to announce the launch of our interactive blog at www.themotherhoodblog.com. THE MOTHERHOOD will continue to be a COMMUNITY-BASED MAGAZINE created for, and by, parents, albeit online. We will continue to write about local and national issues that impact families of every type, and to invite parents, local and not, to contribute to the conversation.
