The MotherHood was started in March 2006 by two friends — Lisa Duggan and Shirley Alvarez Taybron — mothers with 12+ years of publishing and parenting experience between them. We set out to create a magazine that showed all the faces of parenting, not just the air-brushed fantasies of corporate America —and we've succeeded!
